The Battle of Mount Purgatory took place on top of Mount Purgatory in the Land of the Dead at the dawn of time during the War of the Gods. It was fought between the gods Mardük, Paedün and Thoth and the Unnamed Evil. Ultimately the Evil possessed Thoth and turned him into Death, and the remaining gods were forced to imprison their fallen brother into the heart of the land. Despite the gods' victory and Death's sealing, Death was still able to take over the Land of the Dead and influence other realms over the following millennia.
