The 1992 SEC Championship Game was played on December 5, 1992 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. The game was the inaugural championship game and determined the 1992 football champion of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Alabama Crimson Tide, winners of the Western division of the SEC, defeated the Florida Gators, who won the Eastern division, by a score of 28-21. The SEC was the first conference in college football to have a conference championship game. Five other conferences currently have conference championship games (Big 10, ACC, Pac-12, CUSA, & MAC).
