K'Nir was in command of the Gorkon during second shift while it was docked for repairs at Praxis Station that year, and assisted in the evacuation of the aircar crash site in the city of Novat. (KE novel: A Burning House) By 2381, K'Nir was a captain, and commanded the IKS Roval, a Vor'cha-class attack cruiser attached to the Fifth Battle Fleet. (ST novel: A Singular Destiny)
