Selten was a male Vulcan. A Starfleet officer with the rank of Lieutenant commander, Selten was the chief of security for Newton Outpost. In 2385, Selten and his security team attempted to stop a Changeling-like entity from escaping the outpost. Later, Selten reported to Admiral Elizabeth Kadin that the entity had escaped and was heading into interstellar space. (DS9 novel: Ascendance)
