While sleeping in their beds one night, Jimmy and Jilly were quickly snatched up by Catalus, Grack and another goblin, before being carried off to Castle Morbidden. On the way, the party made camp on a beach and Catalus convinced the naive cubs that he was not a threat. To appease them, Catalus allowed the foxes to play with his sword, drink lots of "lemonade" (a deep red drink) and stay up as late as they could. He then informed them that they would be playing "hide and seek" with the queen, except that Catalus planned to hide them so well that she could not get to them.
