Charles Wright Posey (born October 1, 1940) is an American Senator representing the state of Pacifica. He is best known for running in the 2004 primary for President against Jay Leno and Bruce Springsteen. He has served Pacifica in the Senate since 1991, when he was elected to his first term after two decades of service at the state level, including Lieutenant Governor from 1987-1991. In winning his Senate seat, he defeated eighteen-year incumbent and former Governor Bill Bennett, himself son of the longest-interred Governor WAC Bennett, to win election to a seat the Nationalists had held since 1943 (48 years at the time).
