The rel-san-vek is an ancient Vulcan ceremony that is performed to disolve a bonding between two Vulcans. Following Spock's bonding to Saavik following the unusual circumstances of his resurrection in the year 2285, both parties eventually returned to planet Vulcan to have the ceremony performed.
