The National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA) was established by the Australian, State and Territory governments in 2005 to develop better ways of electronically collecting and securely exchanging health information. This was the first practical attempt by the Australian health Ministers to establish a true delivery organization for significant national eHealth projects.
