This is the 1955-56 Montreal Junior Canadiens season. The team had played in the Quebec Junior Hockey League last season. The league, down to three teams, then folded. The Montreal Canadiens, parent team of the Juniors, decided to keep the Juniors going as an independent team. It would play exhibitions all season and then enter the 1955-56 Eastern Canada Memorial Cup Playoffs. They played in (and won) the Laurier Cup series against the Junior A teams of the Ontario Hockey Association.
