Working in the sound department for a decade, Freeman started his career as sound effects editor on the action drama Class of 1999 (1990, with Zack Davis, Alan Howarth, Doug Jackson, Lance Laurienzo, Jerry Trent, and Robert Ulrich) and as dialogue editor on the drama Femme Fatale (1991), the science fiction film Neon City (1991), the horror comedy Army of Darkness (1992), and the television series The Little Mermaid (1992).
