The G.I. Joe Extreme comic book series was published by Dark Horse beginning in 1995. The entire series consisted of one four-part miniseries and an ongoing run of four issues. It was set in the (then) future year of 2009, using characters with no connection to characters created by Larry Hama. The letters page in issue four of the ongoing series stated that the book was going on hiatus, but Dark Horse lost the license before further issues were ever released.
