"Kathy" is the twentieth chapter of Sideways Stories From Wayside School. Kathy hates everyone, especially the reader (and she doesn't even know the reader!), and she hates everybody all for a specific excuse (with the exception of Sammy the dead rat from six chapters ago). It is indicated that she actually creates the excuses by her own actions; she is hit in the face by a ball because she closes her eyes and allows it to hit her, and she dislikes Allison's cookies because one that Kathy left in her own desk for three weeks became stale and old.
