RITE OF SAFE SLEEPING: (Level 1) This rather straightforward ritual sets up a ward around the Garou's place of sleep. The ritemaster must find broad, green leaves, and fine white sand. The sand is folded into the leaves, and the leaves are placed out of sight along the perimeter to be watched. The prayers are said, and the name of certain spirits invoked. Those spirits will tend the perimeter and ensure that those within are warned if anything of significance ventured too close in the Umbra or the Realm. The rite takes longer to prepare the larger the perimeter to be watched. Finally, it seems the spirits are bothered if those within the circle stay awake, for they leave the area if any are awake for too long.
