This steel plate, which was surgically placed on his face, allows Kano to focus great amounts of power into his right eye and fire a highly dangerous beam from it. Kano's bionic eye makes Kano himself a seriously dangerous man. Kano, along with his bionic eye implant, appear in Mortal Kombat 9. It was revealed in the Mortal Kombat X comics that Kano had replaced his old implant with a new one after his previous encounter with Sub-Zero, who had damaged it. Kano appeared along with his infamous cybernetic eye in the first Mortal Kombat movie, and was played by the late Trevor Goddard.
