Usually refers to the Cybertronian race, but also sometimes includes other sentient robots capable of transforming. Note that transforming in of itself is not necessarily a requirement to be called a Transformer. Most notably, the Transformers include the Autobots and Decepticons, who have waged their war for millions of years.
