The Indian Territory was a former Territory of the United States of America and the Confederate States of America. During the War of Southron Independence, The Indian Territory was organized in early 1861 as a Territory of the Confederate States of America. It sent soldiers to fight for the Confederacy, and was the sight of a few battles. In late 1864, it was finally merged with the Oklahoma Territory to create the State of Sequoyah
