Dr. Cory Fielding did extensive experiments using his own chemical compounds on children to find the elixir of life. His experiments mostly fail; his miracle drug, Ultra-X-Amine turns out to be a decent hypnotic for most of the children. A few of the children show wild powers before they die. Six of the latter survive to become the Mystic Six. His secret laboratory is never discovered.
