Faren is a wine merchant in Empath Abbey in Ultima VI. Faren was a young effeminate man whom the Avatar met while visiting Empath Abbey. Faren had several varieties of Empath Abbey wine for sale, and was willing to sell the Avatar white wine, red wine, dry wine, sweet wine, Abbey Red and Abbey Dry. The brother of blind Stephanie, the healer of the Abbey, Faren wondered what life must be life for her. Faren thought that since his sister who was born blind had to make the best with her lot in life, she was no different than anyone else. Just like the Gargoyles, who only knew of life as a gargoyle, were similar to humans because they also tried to make the best of their lot.
