In the Western Conference, Ryan Getzlaf, Shawn Horcoff, Duncan Keith, Anze Kopitar, Manny Legace, Corey Perry, Mike Ribeiro, and Henrik Sedin made their first appearances at the 2008 all-star game. Niklas Lidstrom made his 10th appearance for the Western Conference. Eastern Conference player Daniel Alfredsson and Western Conference players Ed Jovanovski, Chris Pronger, and Joe Thornton would be made their 5th all-star appearances, the second most out of the 2008 all-stars.
