Dr. Macabre was a criminal mastermind who was highly respected in the criminal community. He possessed a powerful form of hypnosis and at one point had a death touch. The doctor had a ward named Lenore, who called him father, who assisted him (she later turned out to be a victim of his hypnosis). Dr. Macabre was believed dead several times, only to return to fight Cat-Man and Kitten once again.
