Danyar Olesa was a human male who served in the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a commander in the Rebel Army, and was a Jedi Temple Security scout prior to the Galactic Civil War. In 4 ABY, he oversaw the security troops in the east tunnels of Echo Base on Hoth. A snowtrooper squadron broke in, and Danyar was killed by Captain Kyp Trasidar, the Squad Leader. However, Danyar's forces managed to hold them off long enough to keep them from securing their intended objective. Later, his sons, Han Olesa and Lan Olesa, survived the war and served in the New Republic's Defense Forces.
