The Subatomic Informational Relay System (acronym SIRS) was a enhanced sensor technology utilized by the Federation in the 2470s. It allowed for sensor scans of specific regions to be thoroughly scanned. (Nanoprobes) After the SIRS is shutdown, the nanoprobes are retracted back into the ships sensor array until be utilized later. There was a 1 in 9 to 1 in 14 chance a couple dozen nanoprobes would be lost. As of the 2470s the Renovamen class and the prototype Zeitleiste class had been equipped with the Subatomic Informational Relay System.
