Harry Nyquist (Nilsby, 7 February 1889 – Harlingen, april 4, 1976) was a Swedish electrical engineer who has been of great importance for the development of information theory. He has carried out important work in the field of thermal noise among other things and the digitizing of signals (the Nyquist-Shannon Sampling Theorem); See also ADC. In 1960 he received the IRE (now IEEE) Medal of Honor "For fundamental contributions to a quantitative description of thermal noise, data transmission and negative feedback".
