Austin Douglas Waite (1890-7 October 1946) was an auctioneer and local politician. Born in Stamford Hill, he was the eldest son of John Henry Waite, a Welsh businessman. When he was aged 2 the family moved to Folkestone in Kent, where his father became one of the leading member of the business community, with an "amusements" business and the nickname the "Rock King". He was employed as a bank clerk.
