Hurthlings are a playable race in ADOM. Prior to version 1.0.0 [or perhaps some later versions in the 0.9.9 line], hurthlings were called hobbits in ADOM. After the name change, the manual was amended to explain that hurthlings are only known as "hobbits" in later ages and/or outside of Ancardia.
