A log book was a record in book form of a ship's travels, kept by a member of its crew. In 2267, James T. Kirk asked Montgomery Scott if there were any records or log books on the SS Botany Bay. Scott replied in the negative, adding that the ship's occupants were probably in suspended animation when it launched. (TOS: "Space Seed" )
