Doctor Avril Smythe was an archaeologist who discovered the Al Amir jewel amongst the artifacts of a tomb in the Valley of the Kings, Egypt. The jewel and other treasures were taken for an exhibition at the Museum of Natural History in New York City where Al Amir was to be unveiled.
