In Holy Empire of Jinavia, the Imperial Gendarmerie Corps is the military service in charge of public security police duties among the civilian population. It is also a military police force. It has a strength of more than 12 milions. They are organized into twenty-eight regional ("Group") commands encompassing the 560 provinces. In each Command, the provincial Gendarmerie commander, a Colonel or Brigadier General, advises both the Prefect and the Quaestor on matters of security and maintains direct charge of the subordinate gendarmerie commands. However, usually the Provincial Commander is also the local Quaestor.
