Hurricane Gustav was the seventh named storm, third hurricane, and second major hurricane of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season. Gustav was a very destructive hurricane, reaching Category 4 status on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale. Gustav made a total of four landfalls, its first being in Haiti as a Category 1, its second as a tropical storm in Jamaica, in Cuba as a Category 4, and in Louisiana as a Category 2.
