In the year 2373, the Reston participated in the Battle of Sector 001 against the Borg. The ship was targeted for assimilation and was overcome by the Borg and taken from the battle. In 2380, the partially assimilated Reston was found seemingly abandoned and adrift in the Korso Spanse by Nicholas Locarno and a band of privateers aboard the private vessel Celtic.
