The Corrections Service was the agency responsible for prison management in the New Republic, working with the Security Service, National Police, and Investigative Bureau. Corrections was created following the inability of the police and New Republic Army in keeping prisoners secure. It was known by many people to be a puppet of the Security Service, and was known to have refused orders from the New Republic Senate. The Corrections Service also had corruption problems, though they were said to have mostly been eliminated by 21 BBY, according to the New Republic Central Court.
