Gladstone Gander visits his uncle, Scrooge, and tells him his luck helps him out in any situation, as Scrooge doesn't believe in luck. Magica De Spell decides to use Gander to steal Scrooge's Number One Dime since he was lucky. She tricked Gander into being on a game show when she hypnotized him to believe so in order to steal Scrooge's dime. Magica would thank Gander for stealing the dime and led to Gander's reign of bad luck. Bad luck doesn't only go to Gander, but also to Scrooge. Scrooge is enraged when the cause of all his troubles is Magica having the dime.
