Edwin Stanley (1880-1944) played General Rankin in the 1938 serial Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars. Stanley appeared in more than 200 movies and serials over his thirty-year career, including King Lear (1916), Dick Tracy (1937), Stella Dallas (1937), The Phantom Creeps (1939) and Charlie Chan in Reno (1939).
