The Kentucky Smoke House was an excellent barbecue establishment in Covington, Kentucky, famous throughout the northwestern Confederate States. It attracted both black and white customers. For many years the proprietor and head cook of the smoke house was Apicius Wood. He was later succeeded by his son Lucullus. The Smoke House did not survive the Second Great War, as its owner and most of its staff were swept up and killed in the Population Reduction.
