The Fifth Master was the fifth (on-screen) incarnation of the renegade Time Lord known as the Master. During the Last Great Time War, he was revived by the Time Lords, who believed that he would be the perfect soldier to fight in the war, due to his savagery. He crossed paths with his old enemy, the Doctor (though the Doctor was unaware that he was the Master) and participated in many engagements in the Time War. He defended a Time Lord-controlled deep space station that was building a super-weapon known as the Cruciform.
