A diagnostic team was a specialized group of Starfleet engineers, usually aboard a starship. A diagnostic team was called whenever a technical matter had to be looked into very thoroughly. In 2368, Geordi La Forge called a diagnostic team, led by Lieutenant Shipley to cargo bay 4 to investigate strange occurrences, caused by tampering of solanogen-based lifeforms in the bay.
