The Royal Octans were among the ruling families of the Darpa sector before 4000 BBY. The Octans gained their wealth as space pirates by the use of three power gems that disrupted magnetic defense shields, allowing them to overtake targeted ships and seize their property. The Margrave Octan of Nallastia was a descendant of the Octans.
