The barb spider was a creature found on many worlds across the galaxy, usually in dark damp places like caves or sewers under cities. They were often found in the caro holds of space faring vessels where they would eat stored food and defecate, which meant the crews killed them as pests. On poor planets, barb spiders were utilized as food because they were easily caught and common everywhere. However they did not taste very nice, their meat was considered bitter. They were also covered in barbs which made them unpleasant to handle.
