After the Human-Covenant war, very few Prowlers or any stealth ships at all remained in the UNSC Navy. ONI, relying on stealth and spying tactics largely to win any conflict, ordered the construction of more Prowlers to begin at once. The Shadow Bringer was the first of these Prowlers to be finished, and was put into the 8th Fleet in 2555 CE, a few days after it was completed. Although upgrades and other enhancements had been planned for the Shadow Bringer, none were installed for the unusual lack of hardware to make all the needed components. Nevertheless, the ship became fully operational as planned and was thrown into active duty under the command of Captain Ashley Rodriguez, an officer who had served on a Prowler during the war.
