Yeoman Chen was an member of Starfleet on board the USS Shepherd. While at Starfleet Academy, Chen was a classmate of Hendorff, Nyota Uhura, and others. Chen was killed in a freak shuttle accident on Calder II. After hearing of the accident, some of Chen's past classmates raised a toast to Chen's memory. (TOS comic: "IDW Star Trek, Issue 13")
