Metropolitan Joseph (Petrovykh, 1870?-1938) was a vicar of Petrograd (also known as Leningrad) and was transferred in 1926 to Odessa. He refused to move from his see and was martyred by the Communists after a series of imprisonments for not recognizing the declaration of Metropolitan Sergius as valid. He was widely regarded as the most vocal leader of the Catacomb Church in Russia during Her formative years. He was glorified as a New Martyr by the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia who celebrate his feast day on December 15, but his glorification has not been recognized by the Patriarchate of Russia.
