In 2286, the USS Cluster had become training vessel for Starfleet cadets. Under the command of Captain Edward Fields, the Cluster was to vist a planet in sector 9. Unfortunately, the Captain and his landing party were killed in a Romulan ambush. (TOS comic: "Idol Threats")
