The Ascetic Dragon, Draco mysticus indiana, tragically became extinct some time near the end of the 19th century, having previously been widespread. Its decline came from its habit of dwelling near temples, which it presumed to be rocky crags, and never eating while being watched. If it sensed danger, it would adopt a one-legged pose and stay still until any threat had passed. Sadly, as the number of people visiting increased, the numbers of this remarkable creature declined.
