A black hole exploded sending cosmic radiation across the galaxy. It completely rewrote the laws of physics. It caused a correlation between gravity and human perception. Where if someone is anywhere in space, their brain perceives something as a floor, they can still walk on it, uber-gravity. This has caused most ships and orbital masses to have their own breathable atmospheres. Because of this people are no longer sucked out into space, and there is no explosive decompression. Sound also exists in space, and space travel is as easy as driving really fast. Unfortunately pockets of regular physics still exist, floating around, which sometimes causes people to explode.
