Jan Vermeer (1632-1675) was a Dutch Baroque painter who left his wife and children in debt at his death, perhaps because he produced relatively few paintings. Miss Piggy appeared in the 1984 Miss Piggy's Art Masterpiece Calendar as Young Lady Adorning Herself with Pearls (and Why Not?), a spoof of Vermeer's "Woman with a Pearl Necklace." In the 2015 storybook All Aboard! a version of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring is seen at the Monster Museum of Art as Girl with Cookie Earring.
