The EAS Athena was a Earthforce destroyer. In 2248, the Athena fought at the Battle of the Line under the command of Captain Best. During the battle, the Athena launched fighters, and when the Athena was damaged by the exploding EAS Curie, Best ordered the Athena to retreat. Best brought a large portion of the Athena’s crew to his new command, the EAS Agamemnon.
