The July 2008 General Election took place on 17/07/2008 following the dissolution of parliament at the end of the 1st term of the 3rd Pokemaniac John Government. Voters from across Ostentia took part in the electoral process, voting for both a prime ministerial candidate and a parliamentary candidate. This was the first election to see MPs elected by contingent voting, a system which is believed to favour minor parties. The election saw the Liberal Alliance lose its majority in the House of Commons, but remain in power.
