The club was admitted into the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation in January 1926. In 1926-27, Währing played in Group III of the Austrian Hockey Championship's 2. Klasse. They won the group and earned a spot in the 2. Klasse Group A the following year. In October 1928, they were renamed Eishockeyclub Währing The club then played in the 2. Klasse through the 1929-30 season, when they earned promotion to the top-level 1. Klasse. They adopted the name Hockeyclub Währing in December 1930. Währing finished third overall in the league in 1932.
