Bo Merkle (played by Keith Brunsmann) was an inmate at the same prison yard as Wilson Pinker Rawls. While putting up plywood boards over windows before an approaching storm, Merkle and Rawls got into a verbal altercation that ended when Rawls nailed Merkle's hand to the board. (TXF: "Trevor")
