Cappadocia was a province of the Roman Empire in Anatolia (now today, Turkey). The capital was Caesarea. The city and capital was established in 17 AD by the Emperor Tiberius that ruled from 14 AD to 37 AD. This followed the death of the Cappadocian king, Archelaus Cappadocia was a province of the imperials and it's governor was appointed by emperor. During the latter 1st century, the province also incorporated regions of Pontus and Armenia Minor.
